Arrrrgh!

I took my new camera to school on Friday to get pictures of Flat George spending the day with me.  It didn't work so I presumed it just needed to be recharged.  I let it charge all weekend long in anticipation, plus I wanted to get better pictures of the scarf Amber made me and my pretty tulips and better pix of the chi's and whatnot.  Only it still isn't working!!!  :(  And I can't figure out what's wrong with it.  I think I'm going to take it back to the store and see if they can help me with it.

This isn't a the greatest picture of the scarf (which is why I was going to take some better ones!) but at least you can see how pretty it is!  The pink has this metallic-like threads in it which makes it really stand out.  It's very long and very warm.
And these are the pretty cards Katie sent me!  She said it made her think of me when she saw it so she just had to get it for me.  The pink card on top is the one she wrote a note in, the one on the bottom is one out of the set she sent.  It says, "Everything's better with sprinkles!"  And yes, it truly is!  lol
Click to enlarge for better detail.  I used the first one to send a thank you note to Katie and sent another one to Amber!
And finally, a picture of Shiver!  He chewed the bedpost there when he was a puppy.  It was a brand new bed and he was just starting that non-stop chewing phase.  He wasn't interested in chewing any of his toys, he only wanted to chew any- and everything he wasn't supposed to!

Depending on whether or not I can get the camera fixed, I may or may not be posting pix of my boys for Wordless Wednesday.  My camera is still new (less than 2 months!) so hopefully it's just operator error and the correction will be simple.

Not sure when I'll get down to the store.  I have to do a research project for psyhcology after class and then I'm headed over to a meeting for PolySci.  My professor said to attend the meeting if we had even the slightest interest in obtaining a political science degree.  I don't know that I necessarily do but I figure it can't hurt to attend and who knows, maybe I'll decide that this is a better fit than Business & Economics.  The only thing attending the meeting will cost me is an hour of my time so what the heck!

And then on Tuesday, the boys go to the vet for their annual shots.  The rest of the day will be spent studying furiously for my Government test.  I only got a 70 on my last one, I want to do better on this one so I'm putting in more time and effort into studying this time.

Half Full Friday

Half Full Friday is a series of weekly posts that Eyegirl originally started in June 2009.  We believe that a lot of our happiness is determined by our attitude about the things that happen to us.  So by participating, I'm deciding to see the glass as half full instead of half empty; I'm choosing to concentrate on the positives instead of dwelling on the negatives.  The Half Full Friday posts are a way to do just that.  They're a list of the things in my life that have brought me happiness over the past week.  I'm determined to find something good in each day.  Are you?

For the next week, I'd like to challenge each of you to keep a list of at least one thing that brought you happiness each day.  Be sure to link up here once you've posted your list!  (This isn't a blog hop so please only link up if you've participated by posting your happy list.  Thanks!)
~I'm happy because...
I enjoyed a glorious four day weekend with lots of quality time with the chi's!

This week has been nowhere near as stressful as last week!

I caught up on housework!

I finally figured out how to transfer pictures from my camera to my computer -- so easy!

I got my tax refund back already!

I bought some pretty tulips at the store a few days ago!

I snagged a box of chocolates from the place I volunteer at yesterday!

I realize that I have no room to complain but I'm seriously so over winter these days!  I'm not enjoying the freezing cold temps at all.  Yesterday I came out from volunteering and the snow was just coming down heavily.  It piled up but then just as quickly melted.
These were taken from my front door.  If you click to enlarge them, you'll see the snowflakes.

I'm ready for spring already!  I think that's what made me buy the tulips the other day -- they were blooming so pretty and made me think of spring.  The only good thing about this cold weather has been the fact that I can wear the pretty new scarf that Amber sent me along with the new coat I bought a few weeks ago!

I took a picture of the scarf and will be posting it on Monday along with a few other things I've been meaning to show you.  And then on Wednesday, I'll be sharing pix of my pups!

I was pretty bummed because I lost 2 followers.  But then I gained one so I'm happy again!  :)

I managed to get around to most of you this past weekend.  Will continue to try and catch up with those that I missed this last time.  I really miss having all the free time I had before.

I love long weekends!

This past week was soooooo exhausting mentally.  I just didn't have anything left in me by Friday night.  I spent the last three days sleeping in, catching up on bad tv, catching up with some of my online friends (I've vistited about half of you so far, working on the other half still!) and doing homework.  Oh, that never ending homework!  I'm off from school for the holiday and shockingly, I actually find myself kind of missing it!

Later on today, I'm thinking me and the chi's might just head out for a walk.  It's been awhile since I've done that with them.  Shiver just doesn't care for walks but he hates to be left home alone so we don't go that often.  Shiver is probably the only dog in the world who doesn't like to go for a walk!

I finally got around to figuring out how to transfer my pictures from my camera to my computer!  Here's a few pictures I was requested to post.
This is the outfit I wore on the first day of school.  Dang, those jeans make me look HUGE!  I'm gonna say it's because of the close up.  That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!  Those boots are the brand new shoes I bought just before school started.
Shiver guarding my school books.
My school books
School supplies.  All my books and school supplies together weigh 20 lbs.  Yes, I weighed them!
Awhile back, Zuzana asked me to post pictures of my flowers that had lasted for several weeks.  I didn't get around to it right away so they're wilted here but still pretty!  This is an old picture so they're dead now.
Chico sniffing a package.
I won this from one of Katie's live giveaways.  It's a beaver ball thing and a cat toy.  Sadly, they didn't care for either toy.  Chico did like the cat toy at first but every time he got near it, I was there with the camera and I think he didn't like the flash so he kept running away from it.  He hasn't played with it since.

I have more pictures to show you but I'll do that in another post.

My dad gave me chocolates for Valentine's Day and my mom got me Peeps!

One of my friends and I went out to dinner together on Valentine's Day!  We decided we'd be each other's Valentine since neither of us is in a relationship.

The restaurant gave us heart balloons!

I got a very pretty scarf in the mail from Amber today!  Thanks, Amber!
All the snow we've gotten in the last three days has melted quickly!

I have a four day weekend!!!

Source:  weheartit
Yes, four glorious days to do whatever my heart desires!  I cannot even begin to tell you how happy this makes me.  I need those days off just to recover from the week I've had.  Monday, I had a test.  Wednesday, I had to lead a discussion in History.  I'm soooooooo not a public speaker!  But it earned me 20 extra credit points so I did it.  Today, I took 2 tests and have one more to take online before midnight tonight.  It's open book, open notes so I'm not too worried about it. It's timed though.

One of the tests I took today - I'm kind of pissed about it.  The professor gave us a study guide on Monday.  I spent literally the entire day yesterday studying for this stupid test.  And you know what?!  The majority of what she told us to study was not even on the friggin' test!  As I drove to school this morning, I was trying to go over the terms and stuff in my head and my mind just drew a blank.  I was so freaked out about it because the professor likes to use big words and my simple mind doesn't always immediately comprehend them so I wasn't sure what to expect since I knew we'd have at least one essay question.  (Turns out there were 6!)  I feel like I did ok though - it was easier than I expected.  Not to say that it was easy because it wasn't but it was easier than what I thought it'd be.  I'm not going to get too cocky though because I thought my Government test was easy too and I only got a 70% on it, even after studying!

My main plan for the weekend is just to relax and spend some quality time with my chi's.  Hopefully I can catch up on some of the sleep I've missed out on from all the stress this past week.  I also want to catch up with all of my online friends.  I've missed having time to do that every day.  I should probably do some housework too.  And of course, there's the homework.  Never ending mounds of homework...

Half Full Friday - on a Saturday!

~I'm happy because...

I went to dinner with a friend this week!

I got a fabulous gift in the mail from Katie!

We've had beautiful weather the last few days!

I got my free stuff from Bath & Body Works for the month!

I got my taxes done and am getting a refund!

I got a $300 check from the insurance company to pay for damages to my vehicle!

I made plans with a friend for coffee!  Really looking forward to it because we don't get to talk to or see each other very often.

So I didn't post yesterday because I didn't have a great day for a variety of reasons.  I just wasn't feeling the positive vibes I usually get from HFF so I skipped it.  Plus my computer was having issues that I just wasn't up to dealing with.  Got it fixed though and seem to be back to feeling like my normal self again!

I had a test in Government on Wednesday which I studied for.  I thought I did really well and was pleased with myself.  And then...yesterday I went to class and got my grade back.  I thought for sure I got at least an 85% or maybe higher.  Oh no, I only got a 70%!!!  Soooooo disappointed!  My parents both know I had a test and they keep asking me when I'll get it back.  I'm afraid to tell them I didn't do well because they'll both lecture me endlessly about how I need to take advantage of this opportunity, study more and don't I want to do well? and on and on and on.  Ugh!  I have a test on Monday and two on Friday - not even gonna mention those to them.  I don't want to have to explain why I didn't do well if I don't get high scores.  I don't even live with them and they still make me feel like I'm back in high school sometimes...

I made chocolate chip cookies this week!

The vanilla I won from Katie's live giveaway came in the mail!

I got a 100% on my reading check for psychology!

I got a $59 jacket on clearance for only $13!

I got lots of really good tips from everyone on how to study!

I have a quiz tomorrow - fortunately it's open book/open notes.  I'm nervous about it though just because it's 35 questions long and there's a time limit.  Then next week I have a test in another class.  And the week after that, I have two tests.  Scary!  When I commented to a friend today about the overwhelming amount of homework I have every night, she asked if it was just because I was a new student.  Honestly, I don't think so!  Two of the four classes assign work daily, one doesn't assign it as often but I've had to write up one report a week for the past three weeks.  And the fourth one hasn't been too bad.  Yet!  I've not had a single day of school where I haven't had at least 5 hours of homework.  (Not for each individual class but between the four.)  Friday's are even worse because they assign even more work.  Psychology assigns a LOT of homework but I'm actually kind of glad if only because it makes me work that much harder and ensures I'm actually doing the reading and paying attention in class.

I volunteered this morning and afterwards, a man walked up to me saying he needed to look at my car and get pictures for evidence.  He explained he owned the car and it was his friend that hit my car last week.  I walked him over to my car and told him the damage was minimal and if his friend could have been bothered to even apologize, I probably would've looked the other way but since he didn't, I wasn't going to let it go.  He then told me he had witnesses to back up the claim that his friend didn't scratch my car.  I told him I have witnesses to say that he did!  It didn't occur to me until later but seriously - how can he have witnesses to say he didn't scratch it?!  I mean, it's not they looked my bumper over for scratches before he hit it!  And there certainly are scratches there now!  I could tell he was pissed about the whole thing, especially since he had nothing to do with it and now it's going being charged to his insurance.  I don't blame him but at the same time, it's not my fault either!  So I don't know what will come of the situation.
Tomorrow is the Big Race!  I'm so excited, I can hardly wait!!!  GO, PIP!!!!!!

Any Advice?

I didn't post yesterday.  The guest poster I had scheduled didn't send me anything and I had school yesterday which kept me busy until around 5 PM with homework and stuff and by then, it just seemed kind of late to be posting.  I did get around to visiting some of you though!

So I'm in my third week of college now and so far I've only really learned on thing -- that I need to re-learn how to learn.  It's been awhile since I've been in school and I'm not used to having homework, studying and taking tests.

So I need your best advice!  Do you have any study tips?  What did you find helpful?  What worked best for you?

I spent this morning doing housework, this afternoon will be devoted to finishing up homework and snuggles with the chi's.  I'm recharging the camera battery today and am going to try to get some pictures uploaded this weekend if I get the chance.  I really want to post the pictures of my dogs.

Tomorrow I'm going in to get an estimate for the scratches that dude left on my car.  I have four hours to kill so it seems like as good a time as any.  The scratches are small and I probably wouldn't even have cared about it so much if the guy would have apologized but he didn't so he gets to pay.  Well, the owner of the car he borrowed gets to pay.

The dryer just stopped so I gotta go fold clothes now, then start on homework.  That report on American Exceptionalism isn't going to write itself, darn it!
