Half Full Friday!

Half Full Friday is a series of weekly posts that Eyegirl originally started in June 2009.  We believe that a lot of our happiness is determined by our attitude about the things that happen to us.  So by participating, I'm deciding to see the glass as half full instead of half empty; I'm choosing to concentrate on the positives instead of dwelling on the negatives.  The Half Full Friday posts are a way to do just that.  They're a list of the things in my life that have brought me happiness over the past week.  I'm determined to find something good in each day.  Are you?

For the next week, I'd like to challenge each of you to keep a list of at least one thing that brought you happiness each day.  Be sure to link up here once you've posted your list!  (This isn't a blog hop so please only link up if you've participated by posting your happy list on your own blog.  Thanks!)

~I'm happy because...
I found a forgotten about stash of Coconut M&Ms in the freezer on Tuesday!

I won Lisa's giveaway and got my goodies in the mail this week!  Click the link to see what I got.

I made cupcakes yesterday!

I'm visiting a law school tomorrow!

I've made myself doing something productive each day this week!

I attended the wrap up meeting for the agency I volunteer for this week.  All went well, and the head of the committee prepared dinner and dessert for everyone.  I helped clean up afterwards, and was asked if I wanted to bring the last of the dessert home.  There was only about a small serving left, and I took it.  I washed the dish afterwards and as I grabbed it out of the dishrack the next day, I noticed a large crack down one side and a very small chip at the top.  I was mortified to think that I caused that!  I'm not sure if I did or not.  I emailed the person it belonged to and told her that if I caused the damage, I would replace it.  She hasn't responded yet.  Keeping my fingers crossed that she tells me it was already like that, and not that it was a priceless family heirloom or something.  The bowl pictured isn't hers, but looks very similar.

I hope the head of your old committee is understanding that sometimes things get broken as if it was really priceless she would of found another dish for you to take the remaining food home in. She obviously thinks well of you to go to the effort of preparing dinner for your last night.

Even if the crack wasn't there when she took the dessert to the meeting it may not have happened when you washed the dish. You may never know how it got there as sometimes people tap the serving spoon hard against the rim of the dish (if it is a soft or sticky food) trying to dislodge bits of food on the serving spoon. I've had several glass dished chipped this way. When I mentioned to my sister-in-law (as she was banging the spoon on the rim of the glass dish) she had just put a chip of glass in the dessert for her children to eat, she told me thats what she always does. She continues to do this to peoples dishes at family gatherings, so I've bought a clear hard plastic dish for salads and dessert for the times I see her, as I don't trust her with glass or crystal! It is not the sort of dish I'd normally use, but now I don't mind what she does to it!

If you do end up repacing it there are always some good deals (of dished the same age and style) at second hand or charity stores.

Have a good weekend.
