Moanday Monday

Guess what I won?  Jenny had a contest on her blog, and I am now the proud recipient of this cool drool book!  I don't know when or if I'll ever get to go back there again, but if I ever do, I'll be fully up on all of the dog-friendly locales!  If you haven't checked out Jenny's blog yet, you are truly missing out.  She gets to travel all over, and shares lots of her adventures.
I tried to visit some of you over the weekend.  My time was very limited due to that dratted homework, so I didn't get to very many of you.  Luckily, my birthday is coming up and I'll have a glorious 4-DAY WEEKEND!!!  (It's Oct. 12th, for any of you who wanted to rush out to buy me a gift and get it in the mail, because I'm sure you all want to.  j/k.)  My plan is to take one whole day off and to use a good portion of it catching up on everyone's blogs.  My plans have a funny way of not always working out sometimes, so we shall see...
*******
Took this from here.

1.  Do you think it is necessary to have alcohol at a party in order to have a good time?

Depends on the party, lol!  Sometimes a really dull party can be helped by adding a little alcohol.  In all seriousness though, I don't really think so.  One of my friends insists she doesn't drink (she does, just not publicly), and I've been to many of her parties where alcohol is not included.  I've also had mostly positive experiences there without it.

What is your opinion?

2.  Who is the one person you hope isn't reading your blog?  Why?

I've commented several times about how incredibly lazy most of my coworkers are, so I would say all of them.  To my knowledge, none of them are aware of this blog's existence.

3.  If you had to, what part of your body - currently hole-free - would you get pierced?

When I was younger, I desperately wanted to pierce my nose.  My mom told me that if I did, I would have to move out.  I wasn't able to support myself back then, so I never did do it.  By the time I did move out, I was at a job that would not allow for a nose-piercing.  Now that I'm in college, I could get away with it.  But I'm year from graduation, and I don't want it to hold me back from getting a job.

4.  Show and tell.  What comes to mind first when you see this picture?  Or tell a story if it reminds you of one.
It kind of reminds me of when you go take a long drive out in the country and see a dilapidated home with a junky backyard.  Because they're so far out in the country, they don't have any close neighbors to complain about the mess.

FFHT - Fractured Fryday Hairy Tails

We're pawticipating in Murphy and Stanley's FFHT!
So I'm Chico, an itty bitty chihuahua.  And this is my story!

I was born in a puppy mill in Oregon.  I spent the whole first year of my life there, stuck in a cage.  The only time I was let out was to do my business or to make babies.  I didn't get the opportunity to truly be a puppy, or to know the love of a human.  It was a horrible life.  Just when I thought things couldn't get worse...  The state stepped in and closed the puppy mill down.  All of the animals there were taken to another state and auctioned off.

I ended up with a family who had a young son.  I stayed there for a year or so, and life wasn't so bad.  Then the family had another baby.  I was no longer welcome in the house and lived mostly in the garage and the back yard.  That's no life for a dog!  Just when I thought things couldn't get worse...  The family decided they wanted a bigger dog, so they got rid of me.
That's how I ended up with my mama.  She came to the house and pretty much immediately fell in love with me.  Shiver is a big chi and she had always wanted a little one, which she found in me.  Plus, I'm so cute that it's impossible to resist me!  Mama took me to the vet for a checkup a few days later.  My shots weren't up to date, even though the family said they were (the shot records they gave her was proof of this), and my nails were waaaaaaaay too long.  I have luxating patellas, but got an otherwise clean bill of health.

I live inside now, have lots of toys, and lots of love.  I sleep in a warm bed with my mom and Shiver at night instead of a cold garage.  We cuddle throughout the day, and I feel very safe and secure.  I had a rough start, but now I have a wonderful life.  I only wish all doggies and kittehs could be as lucky as me.

Monday Meme

Last week was really busy and stressful.  This week looks to be about the same...  Soooooooo much going on and so little time to get it all done.  Next week, I'll start my 3-day weekends again.  Yay!

Has anyone else gotten an email from Andrew at Chewy to do a review this month?  I didn't get one, so I'm just wondering if it's just me or not.
Don't furget that today is the Great Debate!  My boys are voting for Murphy and Stanley.

Took this from here.

1.  If I were the teacher, I would...

Remember that most students actually have more than one class, and that means they have a ton of homework each week.  Because of this, I would try to go light on the homework for my students.

2.  If the world worked on a barter system, how would you fare?  Would you have services to barter?  Would you successful, or would you struggle?

Once upon a time, about 87 years ago, I used to do hair for a living.  So I would attempt to barter that, because it's the only real skill I have.  It's been awhile since I've done it, so I'd need to brush up on my skills a bit.  I'd like to think I'd be successful.

3.  What is one thing you constantly think (not worry) about?

I try to make a point to remember my father each and every day.  Some days I do better than others.  I don't have to worry about him anymore, since he's passed on.

I also think about my chi's a lot.  Most of the time I don't have to worry about them.  Sometimes I miss them when I'm really busy and don't get to spend quality time with them like I like to do.

How about you?  Do you have any services to barter, and if so, what are they?

4.  Show and tell.  What comes to mind first when you see this picture?  Or tell a story if it reminds you of one.
There's a state park in a nearby town that has several big sand dunes.  I don't go very often, but it's kind of a fun place.  There's an observatory there to observe the stars at night.  In the daytime, you can go swimming, and have a picnic there.  You can also climb the dunes.  That's what this picture reminds me of - the sand dunes look kinda like that up close.

That's so random...

My new shoes.  They came with both pink and white laces.  I *love* them!!!  I've gotten lots of compliments on them!  They're very comfy too.
One day recently, I heard a commotion in the back yard.  I ran to my bedroom window to check it out and discovered a cop chasing some guy through the yard!  Kinda scaryish.
I think I may have figured out a way to have a 3-day weekend again, which would be wonderful!  Right now, I am working/attending school/doing the internship thing 5 days a week.  Going only 4 days would actually be a HUGE savings in gas!
My first exam of the semester is this week.  It's for stats class, and I can't think of any of exams that I've ever been so freaked out over.  Stats is just a jumble of numbers that don't really mean anything to me.  I have to pass this class this semester, because I've only got one more semester left, and I'm already having to take a full load then without having to repeat a class on top of it.

Moanday Monday

I am sooooooooo sorry I haven't been around this past week!  I ended up dropping a class this past Friday though, so I've freed up some time for myself.  Four classes, an internship, work, homework (two classes give tons and TONS of it on a weekly basis), and two campus organization memberships was just a bit overwhelming.  It was all too much and I couldn't deal with it.  One class in particular is overwhelming - it's the third week and I'm already lost!  Thank God for my friend who is also in the class being willing to help me.  Next semester - my last - will be crazy busy because I'll have to take an extra class to make up for the one I dropped this time.  But this one will now be just a tiny bit easier...

My goal now is to try and visit blogs at least once a week.  It may not happen sometimes, but I'm going to give it my best effort.  I miss everyone so much when I'm away.  I know I'll have a little bit of free time of Wednesday afternoon, so that's when I'll try to come around and say hello to everyone.

Took this from here.

1.  Which quality best describes your life - exciting, organized, dull - and why?

Right now?  Organized and dull.  I have to be organized for college.  I would never make it through otherwise!  And it's also dull because I'm in college.  I have little to no free time.  Just about every waking moment deals with classes in one way or another.  Either I'm driving to class, actually in class, dealing with students at work who are coming there specifically for class, figuring out what I homework I need to do for class, actually doing the homework for class, or getting things ready for class the next day - making sure I have everything I need in it my backpack.  Whew!

And in the future?  Hopefully it'll be exciting once I graduate and find a mondo-fabu job that I love.

2.  What book quote, film quote, or song lyric has been sticking with you this weekend?  Why?

None, because I haven't really watched a movie or TV, or listened to much music.  I was too busy doing homework all weekend.

3.  Paper, plastic, or your own?

I'm all about the environment, but I usually take plastic.  I can't think of any stores in town here that offer paper bags anymore.  If they did, that's what I'd ask for.  As for my own, I have a couple of bags that I could use, but don't because I know I'd forget them in the car all the time.  Yes, I realize that's a poor excuse.

4.  Show and tell.  What comes to mind first when you see this picture?  Or tell a story if it reminds you of one.
This reminds me of a dream I had over the weekend.  Or rather, a nightmare that I had!  I am scared to death of snakes, but for some reason I had picked a small green one up.  It wrapped itself around my hand and squoze tight.  My hand and arm began to go numb, and these bluish/greenish rod type things came out of my fingers.  Eventually someone was able to unwrap the snake and the rod things went away immediately.  I woke up right after, and my arm and hand were numb.  It was weird!

How Random!

So this happened...

I will have to sometimes dress up fancy for my internship.  I only have 2 dressy outfits, so I asked a friend who seems to have an overabundance of clothes if she had any to spare.  She said that since my birthday was coming up (next month), she'd buy me a couple of outfits.  We headed for the 75% off section, found two skirts, a top, and two nail polishes for a whopping $19 and some change!  Plus she gave me 4 blouses out of her own clothes.  The blouses she gave me aren't fancy by any means, but they'll be good to wear to school.
NOT one of my new outfits!
*******
My mom had such an awful weekend!  First, her parakeet passed away.  Sunshine was such a pretty bird, and could be a lot of fun.  I'm going to miss her.

Then my mom went out to the pond in her back yard and noticed a kitten had drowned in it.
Some other bad stuff happened too, but those were the worst two things.
*******
Have you ever tried Nutri-Vet dog treats?  I was not asked to do this post and have not been compensated for it in any way, but I've noticed a huge difference in my dogs after they tried them.
Chico has luxating patellas and I had been noticing how stiff his joints seemed whenever he would sit on my lap.  I got him on the Nutri-Vet Hip and Joint treats and he has been doing so much better!  He doesn't feel stiff at all now!
Shiver has always been an anxious doggy, so he takes the Nutri-Vet Pet Ease for dogs and I've noticed it really seems to help him too!  He's still anxious, but he doesn't seem to get upset quite as easily.

I took the bags of treats to the vet when they went in for their annual shots and the vet gave them the all clear.  They get one per day after they go outside to do their business in the morning, and that's all it takes.  I don't remember how much they are individually, but they come to about $15.00 together.  They only carry one size at the store where I buy them - Hip and Joint is 5.3 oz., and Pet-Ease is 6 oz.
