Absolutely Random

  • My work contract has been extended until the end of June.  I don't anticipate that it'll be extended after that.  Considering this job was only supposed to last until December 31st, 2016, I've been extremely lucky to have stayed this long.
  • Shiver and Chico are both doing as well as can be expected.  Shiver has been breathing heavier lately, fortunately it doesn't usually last long.  He woke me up late last night/early this morning breathing heavier than normal.  I picked him up, cuddled him and spoke softly to him telling him I'm so sorry he has to go through this, everything will be OK, and I love him very much.  It was a scary moment, but that's all it was - just a moment.  He recovered quickly and we all went back to bed.
  • I got my tax refund and have already spent way too much!  But it's been so long since I've been able to buy myself something nice without worrying about paying the bills and making sure there's enough left over to buy the boys' meds.  This past weekend I bought myself a pretty dress that I'm looking forward to wearing regularly this summer.
  • I'm still really enjoying my 1 Second Everyday app.  Anyone else looking at my daily diary might find it boring but I'm enjoying finding a moment worthy of recording each day.  I wake up each morning thinking about what I can add to the timeline that day.  Has anyone else downloaded this app?

March Chewy Review

We haven't reviewed anything from Chewy in awhile and decided it was time to do something about that.  This month the boys tried the Halo Mix'n Mores Dog Food Topper.  I chose this specifically because Shiver's not much of an eater anymore these days and I wanted something that would encourage him to consume a few more calories.
We received a six ounce bag of the chicken formula to try.  It's a freeze-dried topper that you add to their regular food, whether you feed them wet or dry.  The amount given depends on weight, although I didn't follow that.  I grabbed a handful and split it between two bowls.
The boys absolutely LOVE it!!!  You'd think that I don't ever feed them the way they gobble it down.  Shiver tends to be a little finicky when it comes to food.  He'll eat something for a few days like it's going out of style and then he's not interested.  It's been almost a week and he's still very excited for dinner time now.  Chico is just as delighted.
Yes, they each had their own bowls.  This was a very rare moment when they were willing to share.

Tasting good isn't the only reason to feed this to your dogs though.

Key Benefits

  • Delight and satisfy your dog's inherent and ancestral love of meat by adding flavorful freeze-dried topper to dry or wet food
  • Made with limited ingredients, with whole chicken as the first ingredient
  • Topping provides highly digestible essential nutrients for optimal health and vitality
  • Whole chicken is pasteurized, crumbled, flash frozen and freeze-dried to lock in the nutritional value of the chicken without any dehydration
  • Formulated without artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives for an easy-to-digest topper with wholesome natural flavor
Shiver and Chico give this eight paws up.  I'll add in my own two hands because anything that gets Shiver eating again makes me very happy.

I received these goodies free of charge from Chewy.com in an exchange for my honest review.

1 Second Everyday

Have you heard of this app, 1 Second Everyday?

I hadn't until a college friend posted hers on facebook a few days ago.  I had NO clue how fun and active her life is.  It couldn't be more different than mine.

If you're not familiar with the app, you take a one second video each day and at the end of the year, you'll have a chronological video diary of your life.  A work friend and I joked how our videos would just be of us hanging out with our pets.

I've been feeling for quite awhile like I'm just sitting around waiting for my life to start.  I see most people my age settled into jobs, married with kids, going on yearly vacations, making enough money to pay their bills and still have some left over at the end of the month, etc.  I don't have any of those things.  I have four more weeks left on a temporary job, I'm not even dating a guy let alone married with children, I can't remember the last vacation I went on, and most months my diet consists of cheap food such as ramen noodles because that's what I can afford.

Seeing my college friend's video made me realize though that no one is going to magically come along and give me a better life.  It's all up to me.  While I'll always have plenty of days where nothing much happens, I know that I need to make an effort if I want any semblance of a life.  What better time than the present to do so?

I downloaded the app yesterday and have taken a video of a pretty sunset and a chocolate Shamrock shake from McDonalds so far.  To keep the video from being too terribly mundane, I've written a list of ideas that I can include throughout the year.  I'm actually really looking forward to coming up with something new each day to add to my diary.

I encourage you to download the app and join in the fun!
