Half Full Friday!

Half Full Friday is a series of weekly posts that Eyegirl originally started in June 2009.  We believe that a lot of our happiness is determined by our attitude about the things that happen to us.  So by participating, I'm deciding to see the glass as half full instead of half empty; I'm choosing to concentrate on the positives instead of dwelling on the negatives.  The Half Full Friday posts are a way to do just that.  They're a list of the things in my life that have brought me happiness over the past week.  I'm determined to find something good in each day.  Are you?

For the next week, I'd like to challenge each of you to keep a list of at least one thing that brought you happiness each day.  Be sure to link up here once you've posted your list!  (This isn't a blog hop so please only link up if you've participated by posting your happy list on your own blog.  Thanks!)

~I'm happy because...
My house didn't burn down!  We had several fires here, including one a few miles down the road.  That one was so bad, I could smell the smoke inside my house.  It's out now.

My air conditioner and ceiling fans all work!  It's been in the triple digits here all week and without them, I'd have surely melted!

I cut down the worst of the weeds in my backyard!  Sadly, it's mostly all weeds now.

I finally got through all of the CDAN reveals!  There were so many of them this time!

Dinner with my mom went well!

My eyes seem to be feeling a bit better, so I've been able to visit almost everyone this week!

I've officially heard back from everyone now in regards to the dog swap.  Many of you that I emailed after the deadline said that you'd be mailing your package within a few days/by the end of the week, etc.  And then I didn't hear back from you again.   The rules state that you are to email me and your partner to let us know it's been mailed and to provide a tracking number.  The only exception to the tracking number was to those who live outside of the US or who were mailing outside of the US.  All other rules applied.  You're also to email me and your partner once you receive your package and to do a post about your goodies.  This year has been very frustrating trying to keep up with everyone and people not communicating with me like they should.

Another lazy week here.  It's just been too hot to move!  I really hate that feeling when you've just taken a shower and 5 minutes later you feel like you need another one because you're so hot and sweaty.  I've spent a lot of time watching tv and catching up with my reading because I can sit in one spot and not have to over exert myself.  Surprisingly, the heat doesn't seem to have affected my boys much.  They'd spend hours outside if I let them!  (Just in case anyone was wondering, I don't!)

Any tips for keeping cool?

So glad your house is safe, it must be a worry.
Our garden is like a jungle too, weeding is such a boring job!
Have a good weekend.

The easiest way to avoid the heat this time of the year is to live at the bottom of the world where it is winter!

When I traveled overseas many years ago, I found the best way to keep cool (when there was no air-con) was to put a damp towel (or piece of clothing) over your body. The process of evaproation (as the water dries from the fabric) feels cooling. You can even do this when you go to sleep, or even just wear a damp scarf around your neck.
