Monday Meme

*Happy Memorial Day!*
*****
I didn't really have anything to talk about today so I'm doing a Monday Meme instead.

1.  If you could have any job in the world, what would it be?

Honestly, I don't know!  I can't even decide on a major.  I used to think that I wanted to work for a title company, but could never get hired on with one.  Sometimes I think I want a government job, one where I can help people.

2.  Do you regift the items you receive that you don't like?

Sometimes!  I used to do it regularly, but then I always worried that I would give someone their gift back accidentally or that the person who gave it to me would ask to see it.  I don't do it as much anymore.  Do you regift?

3.  Would you rather eat a stick of butter or snort a tablespoon of salt?

Neither one, really!  lol  But if I have to choose one over the other, I'd go with the stick of butter.  It doesn't specify that I can't spread on bread or crackers, so that's exactly what I'd do.

4.  Show and tell.  What comes to mind first when you see this picture?  Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.
I never met my mom's mom (my grandmother passed away when my mom was a teenager.)  I guess they used to can a lot before my grandmother got sick.  When I look at this, it's what I would imagine their pantry to look like once they were done.  My mom didn't can when I was a kid, so this certainly doesn't look like any of our pantries over the years!

It also reminds me of Y2K.  I went to a friend's house for a visit in 1999 and they had a whole spare room filled with foods and bottled waters.  His parents, the mom especially, were both super nervous about the year 2000.  I always wondered what they did with all that food once they realized that things weren't going to change.

Half Full Friday!

Half Full Friday is a series of weekly posts that Eyegirl originally started in June 2009.  We believe that a lot of our happiness is determined by our attitude about the things that happen to us.  So by participating, I'm deciding to see the glass as half full instead of half empty; I'm choosing to concentrate on the positives instead of dwelling on the negatives.  The Half Full Friday posts are a way to do just that.  They're a list of the things in my life that have brought me happiness over the past week.  I'm determined to find something good in each day.  Are you?

For the next week, I'd like to challenge each of you to keep a list of at least one thing that brought you happiness each day.  Be sure to link up here once you've posted your list!  (This isn't a blog hop so please only link up if you've participated by posting your happy list on your own blog.  Thanks!)
~I'm happy because...
I saw a butterfly the other day and it made me smile!

My mom had a wonderful vacay and made it home safely!

My mom bought me some beautiful flowers!

I may have a fun giveaway lined up!  It'll be a little bit before it's ready though.

I got a free cappuccino on Wednesday and it was soooooooo good - S'Mores flavored!

Don't furget to sign up for my annual Doggone Dog Swap.  I got 2 more participants this week and there's still one or two of you who said you'd email me that I haven't heard from.  You don't want to miss out on the fun!

The chi's and I were late to the pawty but we pawticipated in Sarge's "the Nickname Game" on Monday.  For the next week, Shiver will be called Shiverton, Chico  will be known as Chicohuahua and Scamp is now Scamperon.  Thanks for playing along with us and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
*****
I had an interview for an office assistant position on Wednesday.  It was for the Business and Economics department.  The interview went well and ladies were both very friendly.  Unfortunately, I got a call yesterday morning saying I didn't get the job.  She asked me to consider applying again when I have more economics classes under my belt.  Um, it's an office assistant position, how would having more econ classes help me do that particular job? I'm pretty sure answering the phone and making photocopies wouldn't require any special classes.

I'm really considering dropping Business and Econ as my major.  I absolutely HATED micoreconomics with every fiber of my being.  Thanks to a very generous grading curve and extra credit, I managed to pull a B-.  This class was part of what made this semester such a nightmare.   Plus, I'm still struggling with the lower math classes.  This major requires a LOT of upper math classes and I worry I won't be able to pass them.  Guess I'll need to do some more research and figure out what to do with my life.

~I'm happy because...
I've spent the entire week doing absolutely NOTHING!!!  Actually, I used the time to clean up the house a bit.

I've gotten to sleep in most days!

I'm pet sitting my dad's beagle!

My rose bushes are blooming!

The weather has been beautiful!

I've gotten some new followers recently!  Welcome!
*****
Don't forget to sign up for my Fourth Annual Doggone Dog Swap!  Click on the link for details.  The last time I checked, I had 8 participants and a few more who said they'd email me over the coming weekend.   I got to participate for the first time last year since there was finally an uneven number and it really was a lot of fun!  Who doesn't love to get mail that isn't bills or junk?  And just think, you might even make a new friend!
*****
My mom is on vacation for a week or so, so I've been pet sitting my dad's beagle.  He really is a sweetheart.  I'm reminded several times a day how much bigger and stronger he is than my little chi's.  Since he's been here, there's never a dull moment.  He and my two boys think they need to be on top of me every moment of every day.  It's not so bad during the day (most of the time), but it's torture at bedtime!

I've discovered that my little Chico is apparently gay.  He thinks he needs to have sex multiple times a day with Scamp.  Scamp (the beagle) has been fixed, so he has no idea why Chico has been trying to mount him.  I've constantly been pulling them apart.  I can tell Scamp is getting fed up with Chico but he's been really patient with him.  I'm going to have to give Scamp a bath before he goes home.

I'm still trying to catch up with everyone since I've been away for awhile. I've been around to almost everyone at least once, I think.  If I haven't, I will be soon!

Fourth Annual Doggone Dog Swap

Yep, it's that time again!  I originally started this as a way to gain new followers.  It didn't exactly work out that way, but it was fun anyways and I wanted to continue doing it. Thanks to Sarge, we had the highest number of participants last year and I'm hoping for even more this year!

This isn't a swap for yourself, it's a swap for your dogs!  No, we aren't swapping dogs, although sometimes I wouldn't mind trading mine in, lol!  Basically, you'll each buy toys and/or treats for your swap partner and they'll do the same in return.  You never know what you might get.

The deadline to enter is Friday, June 1st which gives you 15 days.  Once your swap partner has been chosen, I will email you back from a different email address.

I've listed the ground rules below, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

1.  You can only swap for up to three dogs.  If you have more than three, don't despair.  You can still participate but you'll have to decide which three will join the swap.  I'll do my very best to match you up to someone who has the same number of dogs.

2.  The maximum you can spend before postage is $30.  You don't have to spend that much but you can't spend more than that!

3.  You'll need to email me and your partner a tracking number for the package you sent out and to let me know when you've received your goodies from your partner.  A tracking number adds less than $1 onto your mailing cost if you're using the Post Office and comes automatically if you're using FexEx or UPS.   If I discover that you received a package but never sent one out, you'll be outted and blacklisted from participating in the future!  Fortunately, this hasn't been an issue in the past, and I'd like to keep it that way.

4. You must post about the swap once you receive your package.  I want to see what you got!

5. You have until Saturday, June 30th to get those packages mailed out.  That gives you one full month to go shopping and to get it in the mail.

6. This is the most important rule - HAVE FUN!!!!!

If this sounds like something you might be interested in, please email the following information to me at glitter.sprinkles@gmail.com
1.  The name(s) of your dog
2.  Male or female
3.  Breed of dog and size (small, medium, large, xlarge)
4.  Is there anything your dog cannot have?
5.  Is there anything in particular that your dog really likes?  Examples of this might be a certain kind of toy or treat.
6.  Your address.  Your information will only be shared with your swap partner.

I didn't specify the first year whether or not people outside of the US could participate and had someone from Canada join in.  It never occurred to me that someone from another country might read about it and want to do it too.  So yes, even if you don't live in the US, you can still do the swap.  You'll likely be partnered up with someone else from outside the US although not necessarily, it all depends on who else decides to take part.

I got to join in for the first time last year since we had an uneven number of people and it really was a lot of fun.

~I'm happy because...
I'm back!  The semester from hell has ended!!!  :)

Not only did I not lose any followers while I was away, I actually gained one!

I got a free tank of gas!  I think someone must have paid my bill by mistake.

The weather is beautiful outside and I actually have time to enjoy it!

I can sleep in for a bit now!!!  Sooooooooo not a morning person!

I can visit everyone regularly again!  I made the rounds to some of you earlier this week and will be around some more this weekend!
*****
I apologize for taking such a long break.  I didn't intend to; it just worked out that way.   This was a very stressful, anxiety filled semester which made me question myself way too many times.  It started out bad from the very first day and didn't seem to get much better as it went on.  I did make some really great friends though and only hope I can stay in touch with at least some of them.  So, I guess it wasn't all bad!  :)

I had 3 back-to-back finals scheduled on Monday.  I barely saw the light of day this past weekend.  Still waiting to find out how I did.  The one exam that was the most difficult is the one I studied for the most and I feel like I did the worst on it.  It was really brutal!  Keeping my fingers crossed that the professor uses a pretty big curve.

I've signed up for a couple of summer classes which sound fun.  It's actually one class with 2 parts.   It's about the state capital history and apparently, it includes field trips and activities.  Each class is only a week long.  Class meets 3x a day and concludes with a research project.  When the first class is over, I'll have a week off and the second one will begin.  That'll get me 6 credits so it'll be worth it.  I'll have the rest of the summer off with the exception of a weekend workshop.

No matter what else happens, I'll need to find a summer job.  My current one only lasts for the regular academic school year.  I don't have enough in savings to carry me through the summer so I have to work.  Hoping to find something part time so I can spend more time with the chi's.  I've missed them and I know they've missed me too.  Even though I worked less hours this semester, it seemed like I was gone so much more.

I haven't had time to try to upload pix of the boys onto my laptop but I'll get on that soon.

Stop by on Monday for an official announcement about the Doggone Dog Swap!
