July Chewy Review

There were several great options to review this month and the boys settled on Wellness Core Protein Bars.  They received a 5.5 ounce bag of the Turkey and Duck with Kale Recipe flavor to sample.
Chewy describes them thusly:
Wellness CORE is based on the nutritional philosophy that dogs, given their primal ancestry, thrive on a diet mainly comprised of meat. These nutrient-dense protein nuggets are packed with quality animal protein, without fillers or grains, along with wholesome superfoods. Each tender bite delivers an incredibly healthy and exceptionally tasty way to treat your dog. Multiple flavors available.
I seem to remember ordering this brand before in  a different flavor and that they were soft, so I was a little surprised that these were a little harder.  Each piece has a score line for easier separation.  The score line isn't always in the middle, but they're soft enough to break apart with your hands even without the score.  One piece is only 16 calories.  Since the boys always share a piece, they're only eating 8 calories so this is a treat I can feel good about giving them.

More importantly, what did the boys think of them?  As usual, they really enjoyed them!  They give these treats 8 paws up.
This is the best picture I could get, sorry it's blurry.  The boys try to avoid cameras like the plague!  Yes, I was in my jammies in this picture.

A bag of this size is reasonably priced at $6.81 each, or you can set it up for autoship for only $6.47 a bag.  The best part of autoship is that you never have to worry about running out.  Even better, if you order $49 or more worth of products the shipping is free!

We were not compensated financially for this post, but were provided a free bag of treats in return for our honest opinions.

Rest In Peace, Little One

Yay, my internet is BACK!!!  After much back and forth with the phone company and researching other internet options, I finally had a guy come out to fix it.  It hasn't worked properly since January, and the last 6-8 weeks I didn't have it at all.  It's so nice to not have to go to the coffee shop to use my laptop anymore.  I'll be around to visit everyone very soon!

As you have probably heard, sweet little Dip from Sketching With Dogs crossed the Rainbow Bridge last week.  I'm always sad whenever I hear of a pet from Blogville passing away.  This one hit particularly hard for a couple of reasons.  I've been emailing Lynne almost daily for the last year and a half to two years now, so that makes it a little more personal.  Also, Dip looks like the long haired version of Chico, who is suffering from leukemia.  While Chico is doing well for the most part, it was a reminder that he probably only has a short time left with me.
Dip suffered from dementia for almost a year.  She seemed to be doing well up until the last few weeks, then had a devastating stroke.  She was a feisty little thing, and I don't doubt she's up in Heaven now looking down on Lynne and the family, watching over them all until they meet again.
If you haven't already, please stop by and give Lynne your condolences.

All pictures used with Lynne's permission.

Did you see my post about the annual Christmas in July swap?  No one has signed up yet, sadly.

Christmas in July

Welcome to Christmas in July, fka Doggone Dog Swap!  This isn't a swap for yourself -- it's a swap for your pets!  No, we aren't swapping our pets, although sometimes I wouldn't mind trading mine in, lol!  This isn't limited to just dogs – cats and exotics can participate too!  Basically, you'll each buy toys and/or treats for your swap partner and they'll do the same in return.  You never know what you might get!

The deadline to enter is Sunday, July 17th, which gives you just over two weeks.  We're starting late this year due to my lack of internet.  Once your swap partner has been chosen, you'll get an email with your swap partner's information.

I've listed the ground rules below.  If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

1.  You'll enter each pet you have individually.  Since I have both Shiver and Chico, I'm going to fill out the questions below twice (one for each dog).  I'll try my best to swap doggies with doggies, cats with cats, and exotics with exotics.  Depending on the participants, you may be partnered with someone who has pets of a different species than you do, so please keep that in mind.  That's where the questionnaire comes in handy!  You'll also have your partner's email and blog address, so that you can contact them with any additional questions.

2.  The minimum spending limit before postage is $20, the maximum is $30.  If you're swapping for more than one pet, I'll let you use your best judgment on how much additional to spend.

3.  *You'll need to email me and your partner a tracking number for the package you sent out* and to let me know when you've received your goodies from your partner.  This part is absolutely crucial!!!!  A tracking number is provided automatically on your receipt if you're using the post office, FedEx or UPS.   Anyone living outside of the US is exempt from this rule.  If I discover that you received a package but never sent one out, you'll be outted and blacklisted from participating in the future!!!  Fortunately, this hasn't been an issue in the past, and I'd like to keep it that way.  I'll do my best to match pets from the same country, but please note if you are outside the US, you will most likely be partnered with another international pet.  If you live in the US and cannot mail internationally, please let me know.  Mailing to another country can sometimes be costly, depending on where you’re sending a package to, so I would hate for anyone not to participate because of that.

4. You must post about the swap once you receive your package.  We wanna see what you got!  If you don't have a blog, you can still participate.  Just email me the pictures of your loot, and I'll post them on my blog for you.

5. You have until Wednesday, August 31st to get your packages mailed out. That's almost seven weeks to go shopping and get those goodies sent, which should be plenty of time.

6. This is the most important rule - HAVE FUN!!!!!

If this sounds like something you might be interested in, no matter what your pet is, email the form below to sprinkles at everythingisbetterwithsprinkles1(at)hotmail(dot)com.

1.  The name of your pet and what kind you have
2.  Male or female
3.  Breed of pet and size (small, medium, large, xlarge)
4.  Is there anything your pet cannot have?
5.  Is there anything in particular that your pet really likes?  Examples of this might be a certain kind of toy or treat.
6.  Your address.  Your information will only be shared with your swap partner.
7.  Your blog address, if you have one

June Chewy Review

Sadly, I'm still having issues with my internet.  The company ran some kind of test and said that I needed to have someone come out to the house to correct it because it had something to do with the line my internet is running through and that will cost $80.  Since my job has ended now, I don't have an extra $80 in the budget and am struggling to pay the bills.  I never realized just how addicted I was to the internet until I didn't have it anymore.  Being without it has made blogging and looking for a job difficult.  I managed to find a connection at a coffee shop a couple blocks from my house just long enough to post our monthly Chewy.com review though.
This month the boys decided to try the Nutramax Cosequin Maximum Strength (DS) Plus MSM Soft Chews Joint Health Dog Supplement.  We received a bag with 60 soft chews to try.
I like that it's soft and just the right size.  The boys love the taste and don't even realize that they're eating something that's good for them!  The recommended dosage for your dog depends on weight.  Initially my boys are to have one a day for approximately 4-6 weeks, then it tapers down to one every other day.

The boys chose this particular product because it's soft so even Chico can eat them and Chico has luxating patellas so we thought this would be good for him.  Fortunately, his patellas have not been a problem for awhile now so long as I don't overwalk him.  Still, it's better to be proactive than reactive when it comes to something like this.  They've been on it for three weeks now and while I don't necessarily see a huge difference yet, they do both seem to have more energy.

Shiver and Chico give this 8 paws up and say they'd recommend them to all of our readers.  I apologize for the lack of photos, the internet at the coffee shop doesn't seem to do well uploading pictures.
