March Chewy Review

I hope everyone had a Happy Easter!  The chi boys and I did, even if it was a little chillier than I might have like.  Mother Nature's memo announcing the start of spring seems to have been lost in the mail, I've noticed.  We've had snow, sleet, rain, hail, thunder, etc. since spring began.  Anyways...

Have you heard of Solid Gold Tiny Tots?  I seem to remember seeing this on the Chewy website previously but never really gave it much until it came up on the March offerings for review.  We received a 10 ounce bag to try, which typically runs $10.80 a bag and ships out within a day or two.
My boys are absolutely gaga over this!  You'd think I was giving them crack or something, they get soooooo excited when they see me pulling this out of the pantry.  I think they've liked this the best out of all of the items we've reviewed for Chewy so far.  The chi's give this product 8 paws up - four paws each.

According to Chewy's website, they're "made with lamb, brown rice, oats, tapioca, and cinnamon for a treat your dog will come running for."  The website also says they're great to use for training.  Our bag came with a coupon on the back for $5 off any 4 to 28.5 pound Solid Gold Dry Dog Food.    I didn't notice this until I was looking over the bag when writing this post but Solid Gold notes it's America's first holistic pet food.  If you're concerned about what you're feeding your dogs, worry no more with this product.

My boys seem to have mastered the art of avoiding the camera so this is the best shot I could get of Shiver enjoying a treat.

Happy Spring!

I love spring!  I don't love the allergies it brings, but I do love the warm weather that slowly emerges from it.  If I was still in college, this coming week would be spring break.

Sadly, I did not get that dream job I so desperately wanted.  I got the basic rejection letter instead - we appreciate your interest, there were a lot of people who applied for the position, we hired someone with more experience.  I had another interview this past Thursday that seemed to go well.  I won't hear back for three more weeks so I'm going to apply for other jobs in the mean time.

Took the boys for a walk on Saturday at the trail we like to go to.  The weather was beautiful.  The trail was windier than I might have liked and that made it a touch chilly.  I carried Chico for part of it so that he wouldn't get tired.  Last time we went, he kept one of his back legs up the next day.  He seemed much better this time.

Just Another Manic Monday

Last week was filled with anxiety and a mini-meltdown.  A couple of really good things happened to help overshadow the bad though.

Remember that job interview I had last Monday?  It went so well that they asked me to come back for a second interview on Wednesday!  That went well too and now I'm just waiting to hear back to find out if I got the job.  I desperately want this job with every fiber of my being.  It's just down the street from my house so I wouldn't have to commute anymore, I'd save over $100 in gas each month, I could go home for lunch and see the chi's, it pays almost $4 more an hour than my current job, I could go on and on.  I emailed the guy in charge of hiring on Friday to thank him for the interview.  He didn't respond, but I'm still hopeful I got the job.

Something else that happened that really made up for the past week is the lovely gift that arrived from Gyeong and Lynne.  As you know, I enjoy coloring.  And now I'll be able to create multi-colored pictures for a long time to come!
Lynne and Gyeong sent me set of 72 Prismacolor Premier Soft Core Colored Pencils.  I was so excited and couldn't wait to start using them!  As if that wasn't enough, they also sent me a pencil sharpener to go with them.
This isn't your ordinary pencil sharpener.  It allows you to choose a thinner or wider tip, depending on whichever one you prefer.  I've spent more time admiring my new goodies than actually using them, but they're going to provide many hours of enjoyment.  Thank you so much, Lynne and Gyeong.  I love them!

Mundane Monday

If only I could say this in an interview!

Thank you to everyone for all of your kind comments about the job I discussed last week.  Kristen worked her magic in creating an amazing cover letter.  Now it's my turn to work magic at today's interview!!!  Yes, I'm interviewing for the job I so so so so want!  Please keep your fingers crossed for me, because I desperately need this job.  This will be a telephone interview, so I'm guessing that they're screening candidates.  I keep telling myself that I'm the only one who applied so they'll have to hire me.  While this is likely not true, it makes me feel better.

If you saw my Wordless Wednesday post last week, you'll know that I finally got to see a deer in the furs.  She was so pretty!  Sadly, I've yet to see her again.  I'll be looking for her every day until I leave there.  I walk the long corridor twice a day in search of her.

I colored some more over the weekend.  Below are the results of my work.  These pages are from my Animorphia coloring book, a wonderful gift from Lynne.

Wordy Wednesday

The picture above was taken by a coworker.  We were told in training that a mama deer brings her babies by every year to forage for food.  If we see them, we're not to disturb them in any way.  I FINALLY got to see one of the babies on Monday and took the photos below.  They're taken from the window in the long corridor we like to walk along on our breaks.  I asked my friend how she got such a closeup shot and she says she used the zoom lens on her camera, which never occurred to me.  I'll try that the next time I see this pretty girl.

Happy Leap Year, aka Extra Day in February Every Four Years

This past week was fairly boring.  Nothing of interest happened whatsoever.  Seriously, nothing...  Well, one thing did and you'll see that on the next installment of Wordless Wednesday.  I wasn't there to witness it myself which makes me sad.  My coworker was lovely enough to share a picture of it with me though.  Actually, she handed me her phone to show me what she'd just seen and I emailed it to myself without her knowledge.  I told her about it after and she didn't care.  As the weather gets warmer, I'm determined it'll happen again and this time I will be there to see it!

I also found a job that I want!  My current job does not cover my bills.  It covers the two biggest ones and that's it.  I thought it would stretch further and it just doesn't.  It's scary to be overdrawn and having to use my almost maxed out credit card once again because the tiny retirement fund that I closed out last year is already gone. This job seems too good to be true.  It's literally within walking distance from my house, it pays almost $4 an hour more than what I'm making at my current job, it's full time, AND it's a permanent job with benefits!  So I've contacted my secret weapon, Kristen, and she's agreed to help me create an awesome cover letter that the hiring manager can't refuse.  Please keep your fingers, toes, and paws crossed for me because I so desperately need this job!

The chi boys are good.  I noticed some slight swelling of Chico's lymph nodes, but he isn't acting like it's bothering him.  I'm going to keep an eye on him for the time being and if it gets worse, then we'll head off to the vet's office.  The swelling is very minimal, but every little thing with him worries me now.

Colorful Monday

I've been trying to color more because it's so relaxing.  It helps me zone out from the problems we all seem to have in our lives.  I finished this one last week.  The section of feathers in the middle that looks white is actually a light blue that the camera didn't pick up.

I worked on this one over the weekend and really like how it's turning out.  I found a picture of this colored in online and loved it so much that I thought I'd do mine the same way, but found myself doing my own thing.  I haven't finished this yet, but this is what I've done so far.

These are both from my Enchanted Forest coloring book.  I recently got another book called Animorphia that looks like it'll be a lot of fun to work on, but I haven't colored anything in it yet.
*******
The chi boys are both doing well.  We took a walk along a nice trail this past Monday.  Chico asked to be held towards the end of it, which he never does.  He's getting older now and the cancer probably makes him more tired.  The next morning he kept one back leg up like it hurt to walk on.  I was on my way to work and didn't really have time to properly look at it, so I worried about him the entire day.  He was walking normally by the time I got home that evening which was a huge relief.  I wonder if maybe we overdid it on the walk and am thinking maybe next time we won't go as far.

Happy President's Day!

I love three day weekends!  They're the best.  Holidays almost weren't worth it in the banking industry because you work twice as hard the following Tuesday trying to catch up.  Where I'm at now, there's no worry about falling behind from a day off.  No one else has to pick up your slack.  You just do as much as you can do and that's that!

The weekend was the perfect amount of non-productiveness.  I napped.  A lot.  Especially on Sunday.  I did do stuff that needed to be done like laundry and dishes.  Shiver and Chico went to the groomer and got their nails clipped.  I didn't do anything that didn't need to be done around the house.  I did fun stuff though.  Sadly, I cannot share it with you because I left my cell phone charger at work and my phone is almost completely out of power.  So I'll show you my Wreck This Journal and Enchanted Forest stuff next week.

Here's a sneak peak at one of the pages I was working on in Enchanted Forest.  This was from last week.  I'm still learning about shading techniques.  Overall I'm pretty happy with it, although I do see a few areas that could have been done a little better.  I'm just a beginner though so I'm not going to be too hard on myself.  I shaded that tuft of feathers below the beak with a bit of gray that doesn't come through in the picture.  Who knew that coloring could be so addicting?
My boys really loved joining in the big Blogville Valentine's Day parade yesterday.  They kept themselves busy all last week painting the bus and getting it ready for the big day.  They said they got lots of compliments on it and that a few doggies even asked if they could have a ride in the official Chihuahua Mobile.  They're already planning out how to fix it up for next year's parade!

Happy Valentine's Day

Shiver and Chico are super duper excited to be pawticipating in the Blogville Valentine's Day Parade.   They always appreciate the opportunity to pawty.  Thank you to Sarge's mom for allowing us to join in at the last minute.  Here we are celebrating the big day with all of our furiends.  Don't we look grand with our bow ties?
