Half Full Friday and Blog of the Week

Yep, it's that time again!  I truly don't know where the time goes.  I barely blink and  it's already time for Half Full Friday all over again!  Join in the fun by heading over to Eyegirl's and spend some time getting to know Mr. Linky.
~I'm happy because...
I took the campus tour!

I have an appointment with financial aid next week to discuss my options!

The fabulous ~KS created an UH-MAY-ZING resume and cover letter for me!

Shiver and Chico celebrated their fourth birthday on Tuesday!

I found two rosebuds on my tree after the landscaper chopped most of the bush down!

We had beautiful weather all week!

Remember last month when I told you that I apparently don't leave much of an impression on people because they tend to forget me easily?  No one believed me but I swear it's true!  And here's a perfect example.

I attended a dinner party at a friend's house on Tuesday.  I came late because my friend had called me at the last minute asking why I wasn't there.  She told me several days earlier she was thinking of having some friends over for dinner but had been very vague on the details so I didn't realize I was invited, especially since she hadn't given me a specific time to be there.

When I finally arrived, there were a couple of people I didn't know.  We completed introductions when another woman proceeded to introduce herself to me.  I told her, "You know me, Kathy.  You've known me for years!"  I was slightly taken aback because I haven't gained an enormous amount of weight or changed my hairstyle drastically or anything like that since the last time I saw her.  I'm not convinced she really did remember me after we spoke for a few minutes but she made sure to use my name each and every time she spoke to me the rest of the night.

This happens to me regularly.  Seriously!  Which makes me question why I was taken aback by this woman not remembering me.  She's not the first and I doubt she'll be the last.

I hesitated to use this particular blog as Blog of the Week because the originator hasn't posted anything new since July of this year.  But then after thinking about it for awhile, I decided to use it anyways.  Even if there aren't going to be any new posts, that doesn't mean you can't still go back through the archives and enjoy the old ones!

Anyone who knows me knows that I live for celebrity gossip.  My life is quite dull, especially right now, so I guess I'm living a little vicariously through them.

Did you ever watch an old movie or catch an episode of and old tv show and think to yourself, "I wonder whatever happend to...?"  Well, wonder no more!

I linked to the blog from some article at TMZ.  The first post was written in October 2006 by someone calling themselves Movie Fan.  The header describes itself as, "A blog focused on washed up celebrities desperately trying to stay in the public eye long after their time in the limelight has passed."  I wouldn't necessarily say that's true of the majority of people listed here.  Some, most definitely.  But most?  Not even close!  Most have gotten out of the biz completely and are rarely heard from.

The first celebrity featured was Michael Oliver, the little kid from the Problem Child movies.  The most recent was Pete Rose.  It's been fun to check the sidebar and see names of people I'd long ago forgotten about.  What I like most about this blog are the updates.  Some people have only one, some have many.

What I like least are the comments.  Some of the comments are fine and even provide further information about the celebrity but many of them are sex-related.  I feel like there's a time and a place for that and it doesn't feel appropriate here as the originator doesn't focus on that.  But that's just my personal opinion.

12 showed me some love:

I still don't believe it's you who doesn't leave an impression. I just think some people suck at remembering stuff :)

Wishing you an awesome weekend my friend!!! Can't wait to hear if you get an interview :)

I remember people, but I don't remember names... which creates lots of uncomfortable moments!

miss sprinkles!
happy friday! i'm glad you got to do your campus tour, and i'm assuming your hip was nice to you, so yay for that!
i don't think you aren't memorable at all either!! some peeps just stink at remembering names/faces. my mama is TERRIBLE at remembering names. she tries to come up with some kind of descriptive word with the same first letter as the person's name to try to remember. somethingie like "tall tara". yuppers, my mama's kinda goofy. heehee.

Glad to hear you have some rosebuds on your bushes:)

I don't buy it that you don't leave an impression either.
You certainly have left a good one with me:)
I think the people who don't remember you aren't worth it,- just putting in my 2 cents:)

Glad your rose bush is still going after being "trimmed" so much!

That's weird that the woman didn't remember you.. I think maybe it was mostly her this time.

I really like your blog of the week, I'm thinking I'll waste many hours on it, haha

I've always been a little forgetful of names and faces. Then 3/4 years ago I was under enormous stress and lost much of my face/name memories... at least in person. There was a couple I had met 3+ years ago standing behind me at the grocery store. I was focused on my next stop & she said something to me. Still took me a few seconds and then... click, click, click.. I remembered them. I also don't recognize people in vehicals very often or quick enough. I've had comments made to me about being rude. Seriously, I don't mean to be. Faces just don't 'click' with me as fast, or at all, like they used to.
ANYWAY, I was trying to tell you that it's NOT you at all, I am sure!! :-)

Have a wonderful weekend!!!!! :-)
Many Hugs,
Coreen

Happy Friday dear sprinkles, or I guess happy Saturday by now.;)
I always enjoy your Friday posts and I love what you are happy about. Glad you enjoyed a good weather this week, here it was reasonable too, but now it is cold and windy.
I do not believe a bit that you do not leave impression and that people forget you. Maybe this woman just simply is doesn't remember people that well. I used to be great at recognizing faces and i only had to see someone once and could remember them forever. Today, exactly the opposite happens. I forget everyone and it is indeed very embarrassing.
Have a lovely weekend dear friend,
xoxo
