Half Full Friday!

Half Full Friday is a series of weekly posts that Eyegirl originally started in June 2009.  We believe that a lot of our happiness is determined by our attitude about the things that happen to us.  So by participating, I'm deciding to see the glass as half full instead of half empty; I'm choosing to concentrate on the positives instead of dwelling on the negatives.  The Half Full Friday posts are a way to do just that.  They're a list of the things in my life that have brought me happiness over the past week.  I'm determined to find something good in each day.  Are you?

For the next week, I'd like to challenge each of you to keep a list of at least one thing that brought you happiness each day.  Be sure to link up here once you've posted your list!  (This isn't a blog hop so please only link up if you've participated by posting your happy list.  Thanks!)
~I'm happy because...
I've been off for spring break all week!

I've been able to sleep in every day this week!

I got some housecleaning done!  It's so hard to keep up on sometimes, especially  since I'm not home much during the semester.

My boys got a clean bill of health when they got their annual shots!

I went to an excellent Greek restaurant!

I found out Friday last afternoon that I scraped by with a 70% on an econ test that I thought I'd bombed!

It's been soooooooo good to have this break! I really needed it and it came at just the right time.  This has just been such a stressful and overwhelming semester, and I'll be so glad when it's over!

I haven't been home much but I haven't done much of anything really either.  I'll be gone a good portion of today too.  Unfortunately, when I am home, I can't seem to make myself do any homework.  I'll probably be scrambling at the last minute over the weekend, trying to get everything done.  I have an exam on Monday too and haven't done a lick of studying for it.  Not good!

My boys went for their annual shots this past Monday.  I meant to take pictures of them at the vet's office but I forgot my camera, even though I had it on the table right next to my purse.  Bummer!  It's been too rainy to take them out for walks but I did get a couple of pix of them around the house.  The last time I tried to download pix from my camera to the computer, it didn't recognize that there were actually pictures on the camera.  I'll try it again this weekend and hopefully get it to work.

Monday MeMe and What Would You Do?

Took this from here...

1.  You're opening up a cafe.  What songs do you have playing for your customers?  List a few songs from your playlist.

I love music from the late '80s.  I could listen to music from that era all day, every day!  To name just a few, I'd play songs from Bon Jovi, Poison, Warrant, Guns N Roses, Tesla, Great White and so many more.

2.  What's your biggest regret in the past week?

I went shopping over the weekend and spent way more $ than I should have.  I'll be spending even more today because I've scheduled and oil change and my boys are going to the vet for their annual shots.  I had a fun shopping though!

3.  If you were offered the perfect job in a place you absolutely did NOT want to live, would you take it?

Presuming it's only the town/city I didn't want to live in, then yes, because I don't have to live there!  If the job was in a country or a state I didn't want to live, I'd have to think long and hard about it and weigh the good with the bad.

3.  Show and tell.  What comes to mind first when you see this picture?  Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.
I had a friend who used to collect birdhouses.  She used to collect a lot of stuff, actually!  And then she got divorced and moved into a tiny, tiny apartment and I don't think she collect much of anything anymore because she doesn't really have the room for it.  When I see this, I think of her.
 *****
So...  The what would you do question.
A friend of mine recently found out she's pregnant.  It was a real shock as her boyfriend had gotten a vasectomy so apparently they weren't using birth control.  She had an ultrasound a few weeks ago and they did an amniocentesis at the same appointment.  Sadly, she found out her baby is not healthy.  He'll be deformed, have mental disabilities and probably won't live much past birth, if he even makes it that long.

Several people have tried to talk her into having an abortion but she's seen the baby now which has made him all the more real.  She's even given him a name.  Plus she wants to give him a fighting chance and not be the reason he doesn't have one.

This news made me so sad and I shed a few tears for her.  I tried not to ask too many questions because I think she was looking more for someone to just listen to her story and I didn't want to take away from that so I don't have a lot of details.

I want to do something for her but I don't know what?!  I only know her from one of my classes and don't have any contact with her outside of school.  Do you have any suggestions?

Tomorrow is the start of SPRING BREAK!!!  Nine glorious days of no school or work and being able to sleep in and spend time with the boys!!!

Two of my classes are cancelled today!

The manager of the convenience store gave me a free cappuccino yesterday!  She does that once in awhile.

We've had spring-like weather the last 2 days!

A friend gave me some shirts and sweaters!

I'm supposed to get together with friends tomorrow!

I took an unplanned blogging break last week.  This semester is just killing me!  Soooooo not enjoying it and am ready for it to be over.  Things have been very overwhelming and stressful.  Something had to give and blogging was it.

Guess what I'm gonna win?

Amanda is hosting a giveaway for a $25 Starbucks gift card.  No need for you to enter though, because, as I said, I'm gonna win it!!!  I just wanted to brag about it.

What did I miss while I was away?

~I'm happy because...
The cold weather from earlier this week has been replaced by sun and warmth!

I'm meeting up for coffee with a college friend I made last semester!  We have different schedules now so I don't see her much anymore.

I got my tax refund!

My mom is feeling better!  She'd been under the weather for a few days this week.

I found a study partner for one, possibly two classes!

Work has slowed down some!  Last Friday, we were slammed and having to turn angry students away; not a good time for anyone!

I participated in Where Is Sugar Moving To? this past Monday.  Because I listed so many guesses, she suggested that I  might want to do a second post.
 Posted with permission

In Monday's post, I said that I was leaning towards Hawaii.  So that will be my guess for that post.

I had mentioned Paris, TX on Monday.  I don't know if I really believe she's moving there.  I like the romanticism of  it all though.  So my official guess for this post will be that she's moving somewhere in the US with the city/town name of Paris

Did you know there are 23 cities and towns in the US named Paris?  Google it!  That doesn't include Perris, CA.

Where is Sugar Moving To?

I'm sure you're just as curious as I am.

I checked out all the links to Sugar's clues and initially didn't find the pictures helpful.  Everyone needs a little car maintenance and any good owner will bring their pet to the vet at least once a year for a checkup.

After putting some thought into it, I realized the pix probably meant that she wasn't just moving across town!  If you're going to be taking a trip, it's a good idea to have your car inspected.  And if you're moving to another state, you want to make sure you're pets are up on their annual shots.

Her poem says she's moving to a place that many refer to as a paradise full of love.

I focused on "love" and my initial thought was that Paris, France is called the City of Love.
How likely is it that she would be moving all the way to France though?  And then it hit me -- Paris, Texas!
But is it paradise?  Maybe...
When I think of paradise, I tend to think of Hawaii.
Plus, lots of people go there for a honeymoon so it would be a paradise full of love.
A quick Google search for paradise of love brings up New York.
Did you know there's a Paradise, CA?

Where is Sugar moving to?  I don't know, but these are my guesses.  I'm leaning more towards Hawaii but honestly, she could be moving to any of these places!  Or none of them.  What's your guess?

~I'm happy because...
I got an award!  I'll post it soon.

A classmate (from a different class) helped me with a math problem I was struggling with!

I won Summer's giveaway!

My econ class was unexpectedly cancelled on Monday!  I hate that class.

I got an almost $100 refund check from my mortgage escrow account!

So far, my new boss is really nice!

My physical therapy bill is now paid in full!   Out of an over $3000 bill, my then insurance company paid less than 10% of the bill so it's taken forever to get it paid off!

I tried to quit my volunteer activity this week.  I told the leader of it, or whatever her official title is, that I just don't have the time or the energy to do it anymore and that the group was a worthy cause who deserved someone who was able to put their all into the position.  My time is extremely limited and I just don't feel I'm up to the job.  She basically said that no, I'm not going anywhere and that they'll take over half the position and I'll just worry about the other half.   It's still going to take up a lot of my time though.

I haven't decided how I feel about this.  I suppose I should be flattered.  Actually, I think a lot of it is just that we still have open positions on the committee that need to be filled and mine would be yet another one.  I do like the committee better this year.  They seem a lot friendlier than some of the past committees.  I just wish I had more time to devote to it.  There's only so many hours in a day though!
