Things I've Learned In School This Semester...

Theatre - Thespis won the first contest to see who could write the best dithyramb (religious song or chant), his prize was a goat. Thespis was considered the first actor and this is where we get the word "thespian" from.

Government - The definition of politics: The authoritative allocation of values for a society.

History - Before the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire in NY in 1911, the women there basically had to pay to work.  They made $2.00 a day before their pay was deducted for the amount of cloth, needles and electricity they used.

Psychology - The happier you are, the more coordinated you are.

Now don't you feel alls smarts and stuff?!  You're welcome!

Half Full Friday

Half Full Friday is a series of weekly posts that Eyegirl originally started in June 2009.  We believe that a lot of our happiness is determined by our attitude about the things that happen to us.  So by participating, I'm deciding to see the glass as half full instead of half empty; I'm choosing to concentrate on the positives instead of dwelling on the negatives.  The Half Full Friday posts are a way to do just that.  They're a list of the things in my life that have brought me happiness over the past week.  I'm determined to find something good in each day.  Are you?

For the next week, I'd like to challenge each of you to keep a list of at least one thing that brought you happiness each day.  Be sure to link up here once you've posted your list!  (This isn't a blog hop so please only link up if you've participated by posting your happy list.  Thanks!)

It's SPRING!!!

Next week is SPRING BREAK!!!

I have a haircut scheduled for next week!

My mom's birthday is next week and I got her a gift I think she'll really like!

I have an appointment with an advisor at school today!

A friend and I went to dinner one day this week and had a lot of fun just talking and hanging out!

I got a free cappuccino yesterday!
I am jumping for joy at the thought of having an entire week off school!  I love it but I'm ready for the break.  My plans include sleeping in every single day, working on homework (I have some big projects to complete), spending time with the chi's, catching up with all my online friends, doing some reading for personal enjoyment rather than having to read for class and I'm also thinking of maybe going to the zoo.  The art musuem is just across the street from the zoo and I get in free with my student ID so I'll stop by there as well if my hip decides to cooperate.  But most of all, I just want to enjoy the free time and relax!

We were supposed to have a guest speaker in my government class on Monday but the dude never showed up.  Disappointing because I was looking forward to it, even though I have no real interest in politics.  This afternoon I have an appointment to talk with an advisor to find out what I can do with different majors and what they pay.  I doubt I'll make a firm decision just based on that one hour conversation but it'll be nice to have more information and will give me something to think about.

I'm so happy it's spring!  It's been very wet so far and not so warm but it's early yet - it'll get warmer and dry out before long.  Sadly, I haven't really noticed any real signs of spring in my yard or neighborhood.  The campus has daffodil's blooming already.  I'd love to take some pictures of them if only my stupid camera worked.  That's another thing on my to-do list for next week - send my camera in!

Oh!  And speaking of that to-do list:  I thought about it for awhile now and decided to use the $300 check from the insurance company to open up a savings account.  The scratches are minimal and my car is older - 2001.  If it were newer, I'd have it repaired in a heartbeat!  I closed my old account when I lost my job and have always wanted to open another one back up ever since and even made that a part of my New Year's resolutions.  I realize $300 isn't much but it's a good start.

Half Full Friday - on a Saturday!

Yes, I know...  I'm late again.  Better late than never though!

The bruising and swelling are minimal where the car door smacked me in the face!  I'm still trying to figure out how that happened!

I finally got around to visiting most of you this week!

I enjoyed a McD's Shamrock Shake!  It was a special treat for passing my psych midterm.

My psych midterm is done and over with!  Now I just have to focus on my government class.  It's not a midterm though, just a regular test.

Only one more week until Spring Break!

I got awarded Work Study as part of my financial aid next semester!

Tomorrow is the first day of SPRING!!!!!

No more incidents of almost killing my little fishy this week.

I had a fun shopping trip this week!  Fun, but expensive!

Every year when I get my tax refund, I always do one big shopping trip.  Mostly I just stock up on a bunch of household goods like laundry detergent, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, light bulbs, etc.  I always enjoy it because it's the one time of year where I don't pay any attention to the cost.  I love stocking up on everything so I don't have to think about any of that kind of stuff for awhile.  And every year, I always allow myself at least one frivolous item -- this year it was all new makeup.  And I bought it all -- from concealer to mascara.  So nice to have all new makeup!

I also did a little shopping for for my Paw It Forward recipient, Katie!  Her goodies got sent out on Thursday, hoping she likes everything.  I couldn't leave my babies out so I got them some new tennis balls.  Shiver can't seem to get enough of them.  I got them some bone thingies too that they've been chewing on.  The package says they're for teething puppies but my pups don't care -- they're chewing on them anyway.  Wish my new camera worked so I could take a picture and show off my beautiful babies.  I really need to go online and figure out where to send it to get it fixed under the warranty.

This coming week, I have an appointment to sit down with an advisor.  I want to know what you can do with specific majors -- what kind of career field you can go into and what they pay.  I intially went into college thinking that I wanted to major Business and Economics since I have a banking background.  But then I took a government class and found I really enjoy it!  Much more than I ever thought I would.  Next week we're having a guest speaker coming in to talk to us about doing internships in Washington DC.  Now normally I wouldn't really have cared about something like this but after my classes were done for the day, I found myself thinking about that internship as I hiked the zillion and twelve miles back to the car.  And for some odd reason, I'm kind of excited about hearing what the dude has to say.  Which is soooooo unlike me since I don't even hardly pay any attention to politics or what the government's doing.  Looking forward to the guest speaker and the meeting with the advisor, both!

My fish didn't die!  Long story and a huge relief that he's ok!

I got an 86% on my Theatre test!

I got my free Bath and Body Works stuff for the month!  They gave out candles this time.

Vitamin D has helped a lot in making me not feel so tired all the time!  Thanks for the tip, ♥♥♥ The OP Pack ♥♥♥!

My friend helped me study for my Psych midterm next week!

I got some new sneakers!  I really needed a new pair.

I was able to get around to visiting a few of you this week!  I'm trying to get better but it's so hard with the amount of homework I get each class.

I got to hold the cutest little doxie puppy yesterday!
Source:  weheartit
Someone brought her down to the place where I volunteer.  I'm not sure why the lady was there, I guess maybe she came with a friend or something?! Anyway, the little dog was adorable and I rushed right over as soon as I saw the puppy.  I asked if I could pet her and the lady said I could hold her too if I wanted.  So of course I did!  And I fell in love with that cute little girl!  I think the lady said the dog's name is Buffy and she's not quite a year old.  She looks a lot like the dog above, only smaller.  I wanted to turn and run away with her and take her home.

Paw It Forward

Last year, my boys were the lucky recipients of Draco's Paw It Forward.  Now that I received my tax refund, it's time follow through on our end of the deal.  My boys both loved all the goodies they received so we want to spread a little of that same joy to someone else!

I'm sure you're all familiar with how it works but just in case you've forgotten - basically, someone sends you a package of dog pressies.  You then "paw it forward" by sending someone else a package.  Sounds like fun, huh?

Wanna get in on the action?  I can't pick so I've decided to use the same method Draco's mama did.  Just be the first to comment -- yep, it's that easy!  Then I'll get back to you to get your likes/dislikes and stuff.

So what are you waiting for?  Comment away and you could be the next lucky winner!

I got a brand new flat screen tv!

I took my chi's to the vet for their annual shots and the vet said they're both doing great!

The last time I checked, I hadn't lost any more followers!  Yay and thank you!

I have an A+ in History!  Only because I got extra credit points but even so, I'm quite proud of that A+!

While I'm not glad my camera isn't working, I'm glad to know what's wrong with it and it seems like a pretty easy fix!  Now I just need to get it sent in.

I enjoyed a wonderfully delicious red velvet cupcake cappuccino one day this week!

Equals my latest obsession!  I got one at a gas station that's kind of out of my way to stop by every day but I'm thinking this would totally make up for any inconvenience so I should go there anyways.  I got one and have thinking nonstop about it ever since.  Seriously, they're THAT good!!!

This weekend looks to be another busy one.  I have a test on Monday so I need to finish studying up for that one and start studying for my psych exam the following week.  I haven't even begun to study for psych yet and I'll be tested over 5 chapters.  Yikes!  Then there's the history paper I have to write.  It's not due until next Wednesday but I want to rock that paper and it's not gonna happen if I put if off until Tuesday like I usually do.  Oh, and I should probably get started doing some research for another history paper due later in the semester.  It's a big, big paper so I have to actually do research and get a bunch of resources for it and stuff.  Yeah, and I always, always, always have homework in government class.  We'll probably have something in pysch too.  I bet you're all soooooo jealous of me now because I have such an exciting weekend planned!  lol

Wordy Wednesday

I took my camera back to the store and they tried to tell me they only sell cameras, not fix them.  I was insistent that they at least look at it and to appease me, one woman finally did.  She figured out the problem so now I need to send it to Kodak and have them fix it.  The store wouldn't take it back because I've had the camera for about 6 weeks now and their return policy is 30 days.

Sooooo...I promised pix of my boys but they'll have to be ones you've already seen.  I'm still getting used to the camera so I deleted a lot of pictures I didn't like or that were blurred or the dogs were looking away, etc.  My boys went in for their annual shots today and I'd hoped to take pictures of them there for today's post but couldn't.  Boo!  Oh well, these are better than nothing, I guess!
